She’s Bossy

Depending on how you look at it - Kelis Rodgers is the black Gwen Stefani, or Gwen Stefani is the white Kelis Rodgers (Honestly, doesn’t "HollaBack" sound like something Kelis turned down).  Now don’t get caught up on that, cause it’s just semantics, and the similarities between these Neptunes inspired chanteuses go on for miles.

Although we aren’t enamored with her latest cut, "Bossy" - we preferred the trip hop esque sound she had w. Pharrel and Chad - it is listenable.  But it’s the image for the single, that really turned us on. We imagine she puts that foot on Nas, whenever he gets all self righteous.  For that reason alone - she can boss us around anytime…

    Welcome back Rocka!

Kelis is on the front cover of King magazine this month.

    She’s looking pretty hot!

I hope her album does well.

Who wrote this entry? That first paragraph sounds mighty familiar….

Nevetheless… Kelis will have BOSS’d up big time before her June release. Smells tasty already.

Loving the new look… not really loving the new track, but its the type of track that could grow on you.

I will say this about Kelis, she is eternally evolving. My favorite Kelis is still the ‘I just want to get along with you’ Kelis… but milkshake was hot ta def. And while I am not used to seeing Kelis this way, I think that after the adjustment to her newness, I will dig it.

This chick has always been one of my favorite artists because when she first came out she came of as a trendsetter and independent think and not some dumb ass sheep. But lately, I’ve been really disappointed.

Tasty was all in all wack. Anyone who’s been following her from day one can’t say they’ve been satisfied musically. Now that video is so corny and trash and her single is so LAME. She better come better than that with her second single. Why does she have to be oversexed up like that image wise? Where is the strong Kelis of “Caught Out There” and “Get Along With You” who didn’t have to wear lingerie to catch people’s attention?? Can we focus a little more on creativity and ORIGINALITY and LESS on SEX?? At least if you wanna be sexy, be sexy (class and balance in how you dress) but not SEXUAL.

Are times that hard? WHO THE HELL advises these artists?? WHO THE HELL convinced them that it was the right route for all of them?? She had a great hit with Milkshake but her album didn’t sell that much. So why does she insist? Mya got oversexed up and put her clothes back on after a MAJOR flop. Toni Braxton same shit. Christina Milian still doesn’t get the message. Mariah gained her respect back when she appeared respectfully clothed in “It’s Like That” (then the old Mariah appeared again but later).

I’m just disappointed. Such a waste of talent. I like how she’s having a haircut instead of the honey-blonde weave every R&B chick has, but that oversexed up image is truly pathetic, Kelis is worth so much better than that. Please promote good music not ass. I don’t think I like her evolution. Oh Well…

I meant “independent thinkER” in the 1st paragraph.

Oh and Toni, when I wrote “same shit” I meant she flopped with “More than a woman” just like Mya did with “Moodring”, but unlike Mya she didn’t put her clothes back on to promote “Libra”. Toni, too much of something (sex in her case) is never good. get the message.

another overrated ’singer’….if these women went on talent alone, ie; no skeezy videos, they wouldnt sell very many cd’s.
and beyonce is one of the MOST overrated of them all.

I love any thing you do Kelis. Even when you had your hair short I decided to cut mine in a short style and I love’d it. You inspire me to do the best.
    Thanks,
    your fan Tonya
