Robin Thicke > Lost Without You
Rocka: Listening to this makes me wish Justin Timberlake hadn’t of fucked up with Janet.
Vocalz: Nah I don’t think he fucked up… He’s just been in hiding since the nipple slip.
R: Well, if he stays in hiding, Thicke’s going to be Justin 2.0.
V: I don’t know… I think he deserves a lil’ more than that… He
definitely has a swagger that we haven’t seen from Justin. The track
is subtle.- but he doesn’t have to whine or holler to get his point
across as Mr. Timberlake does.
R: Yeah, his voice floats over the track, almost riding the beat -
everybody can’t do that - and when I say everybody I mean Justin.
V: So, maybe Justin should be the one taking pointers.
R: Nah, Justin needs to grab his balls, call Pharrell, and get his mojo back.

LL Cool J [Feat. Juelz Santana] > It’s LL & Santana
V: I’m a big fan of LL, but anger is definitely not a good look on him.
R: Nah, I think it sounds like he’s trying to keep up with Juelz, but shouldn’t it be the other way around. You have to admire LL for being 12 albums deep, could Big Daddy Kane do a song with Juelz today, and sell it?
V: True… then again LL and Juelz have two totally different
styles… I’ve always thought LL’s flow was most effective when
seductive and laid back… Neither one should be trying to keep up with
other. The beat is hard as hell though.
R: Yeah, it makes me miss driving, I’d hit the freeway with this joint. Damn New York City & their public transport.
V: Haha… You could visit me down here in the South and drive me around.
R: Thanks homie, but the song just isn’t that long.

Sergio Mendes [Feat. John Legend] > Please Baby Don’t
R: This sounds like elevator music at first… i.e. very John Legend-ish.
V: Nah, I’m going to have to disagree on that one… Nothing John does sounds elevator-ish, soothing maybe.
R: Maybe soothing and elevator music are synonymous to me…
Although I like this track, I can’t see it cracking my iPod’s top 25.
V: Well you know this is right up my alley… he’d nestle right on in between Jill and India.
R: I can see Sergio on tour with those folks - but something about
John irks me… I don’t believe him - his sincerity seems manufactured.
I would love a Sergio/Nina Simone mash-up - but is it still a mash-up
in the genre of music?
V: Yeah it does come off a little compulsory… nevertheless, you
can’t deny the fact that he is singing the hell out of this song.
R: Yeah, like I sing the hell out of Vanity’s “Nasty Girl” - but that don’t make it right.
V: Warn me when you get ready to do that.

Teedra Moses [Feat. Truth Hurts & Rapheal Saadiq] > Be Your Girl [Juicy Mix]
V: I don’t know who this Scipio (the featured rapper) guy is, but I think the track could have done better without him.
R: Yeah, he sucks… I mean was Jadakiss or Busta not available… They on everyone else’s tracks. But honestly, with a “Juicy” beat you really can’t do no wrong. Young MC could have been the rapper, and I’d still bob my head.
V: Ironically, his guest appearances are more successfully than his
own ish. But back to Teedra, her voice fits this classic track
perfectly.
R: Teedra has one of those voices, that makes you stop what your
doing and listen. The fact that she’s has some super ghetto gangsta
lyrics, that she pens - don’t hurt either.
V: And the harmony with Truth Hurts is to die for.
R: Who would think Truth Hurts and Teedra could harmonize like that. Honestly they should join forces and become the new Zhane.
V: Haha…. Does that mean that one would have to pull a Michael Jackson and start bleaching? But
seriously, it kind of hurts to see such an original talent go
unnoticed. She needs to get with a label that appreciates her skills
and unique swagger.
R: Fuck labels, she needs to call Jermaine Dupri and beg him for a cut. But if it was that easy to get a Jermaine track, I guess Brooke Valentine, Mya, Brandy and every other R’n'B chick that needs a hit would’ve already made that call.
