It turns out we have something in common with Jody Watley – we both rock with coreycraig (pictured above with Jody Watley).
Last summer, I found myself caught in a mix at NYC’s Area 10018. Searching the clubs myriad of floors, for a glimpse of my buddy coreycraig. On that night, Jody was performing a coreycraig original mashup of her hit “Don’t You Want Me” and PSD’s ubiquitous “Don’t Cha.” Considering the popularity of the latter song that summer, it was the perfect blend of nostalgia with trendiness.
Sure not to disappoint, Jody gave us a show to remember. Belting out all of her classics from the decade, and hitting the dance moves that made us take notice years ago – it was like the 90’s all over again. Caught up in the moment with my crew during “Real Love” (probably since we knew all the words, and were old enough to remember her Shalamar days) – Jody pointed and sang in our direction all night. Whenever I think of my most memorable New York nights, that evening always stands out.
coreycraig recently sent R.C. an exclusive mix of Mary J. Blige’s > Enough Cryin’. Check out his latest and let us know what you think. And if you’re in the city, you can catch him spinning at VLADA’s on 51st… Saturday nights. (The photo below – Six Degrees)
