I wanna love you, and f*ck you, & touch you… We won’t forget that song, and nine others from ‘06…
1. “I Wanna F*ck You,” Akon > Snoop Dogg, from Konvicted. Who would have ever thought a native African would have one of the hottest hip hop anthems of the year, and Nas said Hip Hop was dead.
2. “My Love,” Justin Timberlake > T.I., from Futuresex/Lovesounds. Omarion told us if there was one song he could have stolen for his own album, it would have been this… We agreed.
3. “Kill, Faster, Pussycat,” Paul Oakenfold > Brittany Murphy. Who knew Brittany Murphy had talent? While we’ve never been a huge fan of her movies, we are a fan of her screaming over dope Oakenfold tracks.
4. “Hustlin’,” Rick Ross, from Port Of Miami. It’s obviously the mantra for our life, since we’re always hustling something, somewhere, to somebody. Have you clicked on our ads today?
5. “When You Were Young,” The Killers, from Sam’s Town. If I told you that I was in love with a group that does 80’s pop with a 90’s rock sensibility… would you still read?
6. “Maneater Remix,” Nelly Furtado > Lil’ Wayne from Loose. Lynne d. Johnson told us that Lil’ Wayne is secretly the best rapper doing it these days… After listening to him make this mediocre joint fire, it occurred to us that Lynne is right.
Listen: [Maneater]
7. “Crazy,” Gnarls Barkely, from St. Elsewhere. Yeah, it’s cliche, but everyone from Nelly Furtado to Ray Lamontagne has a cover of this ditty… Which sort of makes it this years “End of The Road.”
8. “Be Without You,” Mary J. Blige, from The Breakthrough. We thought Mary was done after Love & Life, but then something strange happened. She had such a huge Breakthrough, even our Mom’s was rocking with her.
9. “Irreplaceble,” Beyoncé, from B’Day. To The Left! Face it, breaking up hasn’t been this much fun, since Erykah Badu told us to “Call Tyrone.” [Review]
10. “Me & U,” Cassie, from Her Self-Titled Debut. Yeah, we know she can’t sing, and yes her dancing is a bit questionable… But she’s so darn cute.
