It seems, that if a magazine has any type of modish factor, then somewhere on it’s website, you’ll find a blog.

It was December 2003 when I started blogging - at the time it was unfathomable for a magazine to hire a blogger to “blog” - ironically I was blogging because I couldn’t get into a mag, go figure.

But within less than five years, it seems that every mag site has a blog of some sort, and most of these gigs are hiring popular bloggers, capitalizing on their online fame. We decided to highlight some of our favorite online moonlighters, and how they are hustling their words.

Humanity Critic @ Vibe
The Blog: A verbal, award winning rant space on all the things that run through this Virginia Native’s Nubile Mind.
The Mag Blog: Still ranting, but more topical… you’ll more likely to see ops on Ray J and Paris Hilton, over Beat Street commentary.
Which version we prefer: The Original, it’s more organic… and more of a likelihood Taimak will be mentioned.

-

YBF (Natasha) @ King
The Blog: Celeb news filled with exclusive photos, and sarcastically kool commentary.
The Mag Blog: More gossip based but not as many photos and less immediately satisfying - but still fabulous.
Which version we prefer: We prefer her Young, Black and Fabulous rather than the Queen of King.

-

Bol @ XXL
The Blog: Snarky post about other bloggers, Real World Reviews, and music reviews for 15-year-olds.
The Mag Blog: Snarky post about closeted rappers which ultimately undermine XXL’s goals - but are strangely amusing.
Which version we prefer: Neither, after seeing his round head on The Parker Report.

-

Prince Peter @ Complex
The Blog: None, known for being a popular NYC Fashion Booker.
The Mag Blog: His Complex blog, regales his tales of being a sought after NYC model booker and rabble rouser.
Which version we prefer: Either or, his life is just as kool offline as it seems online - you’ll find him partying with random people like Myspace’s Tom, Nick Cannon or even Rocka.
