There are times when the access I am granted surprises me on many levels. One of the most memorable in recent memory occurred while I was hanging out with Rocsi of B.E.T.’s 106 & Park in her dressing room.
Things were going normal, until she decided during the course of our convo, to dip into her restroom and perform a costume change. And while I didn’t get an eyeful, I did realize that “work,” just doesn’t get much better.
Are you always this raspy?
I’ve always had a raspy voice, since radio, since I can remember. My family is always like, ‘Are you sick.” And I’m like you guys should know, I’m little Jadakiss.
It’s Friday at midnight, what are you doing?
If I’m not getting ready to go somewhere and hang out, I’m at home being a bum watching TV. I like having little parties at my house, having friends over to play cards or watch a movie; I like little dinner parties at my house. Not too much of a clubber.
If I drug tested you, what would I find?
Nothing, maybe a lot of cherry coke, and Fiji water. I am addicted to fruit; I am kind of like a health nut. I love cherries, but it has to be for real, like spit the seed out cherries.
You ever run into old B.E.T. host?
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Donnie Simpson, he’s real kool.
Did he recognize you?
He’s like ya’ll are the new faces, don’t know your names but great job. I’m like, you still got those pretty eyes Donnie, and you can say whatever you want.
Free and AJ are like mentors to Terrance and I, they check in to see how we’re doing, Aj is always trying to get us to party. I talk to Sway and Lala a lot from Mtv, and of course Big Tigger, he’s Uncle Tig, he’s probably been the biggest influence.
Any of your guest try to get inappropriate?
Of course, there’s always flirting but you have to know how to handle it. I did radio for a couple of years, so most of the people that come across the couch I ran into them in radio. So they’ll purposely try to mess with me knowing I can’t retaliate. So if a 50 Cent or Ludacris started flirting, I just throw it off into the audience and take the attention off of me.
Who are you celeb friends?
Knowing a lot of them prior to this, if some of them are in town they’ll call me. Gabrielle Union and I hang a lot whenever we’re in the same city. The guys I tend not to hang out with, because then all of the sudden I’m dating Tyrese, so I tend not to hang out.
It’s the blog age, what’s the something you’ve seen online about yourself that’s not true?
Probably that I’m dating Tyrese is the biggest one, it got a lot of attention. I don’t even read those things. I actually heard about it from my brother, who read it. That was hilarious to me.
What videos are you tired of seeing?
They tend to phase themselves out after a period of time. I don’t hate anything on the countdown, cause they’re usually hot songs.
You know I don’t believe you?
Well some of the teenybopper stuff. You know I love Omarion, Bow Wow and Chris Brown, there my boys, but if I hear that song one more time… So you’re always looking for the next single to come out. When we get a new video we’re like, “Thank God.
You’re following in Free’s footsteps, any hip-hop albums in your future?
No, no… Acting yes, but no albums.
