It’s been said, that when you have truly made it, the gay rumors start. If that’s a fame litmus test, then the Making The Band 4 guys are superstars.
According to studies, one in every ten people has gay tendencies, so when over 20 guys are vying for the top 5 spots in a boy band, it’s inevitable that someone will be a “Moe.” Which is why it’s not that surprising that the gay rumors have been sprouting like Lil’ Wayne singles, it’s impossible to avoid with boy bands in general.
In the last year alone we’ve gotten confirmations of the sexuality of N’Sync’s Lance Bass, and the speculation on former B2K’er Raz has risen to inaudible levels. But what about those lucky bands that came before to the Internet phase? If they we subject to the scrutiny of today’s bands, where would they stand?
Jagged Edge

Four muscled guys from Atlanta, who are actually two sets of “brothers,” start a singing group with the help of a midget who manages child rappers. Sounds like the plot to a really bad gay porn, or a really bad episode of Vh-1’s Behind the Music. Why hasn’t mediatakeout made something up yet?

New Edition

With a group that consist of Johnny Gill, and the most “sensitive” boy bander ever, Ralph Tresvant, this one is just too easy.

Backstreet Boys

While this bands’ name screams homo-licious, these guys are surprisingly notorious womanizers. Except for the shaggy haired Howie, he’s shy, sensitive and just hasn’t met the right girl yet.

I don’t know any of the members in this group’s names, but a gay rumor would have done wonders for them since it at least would have made them newsworthy. With album names like Pleasure and Pain, and Hot and Wet, I’m more surprised the bands name wasn’t 429.

Jodeci

While this band swagger seemed more drug-a-licious than homo-licious, there was of course one member that raises an eyebrow’s – Devante Swing. I’m not sure if it was the colored contacts, the colored hair or the “club kid” clothing in later years but something just didn’t seem right right with him, but on second thought… cocaine is a hell of a drug.
Quoting Clay Cane “We don’t believe any of these performers are really gay, if they were, they’d be much more talented”
