Remember when J.Lo could show up to any random event, clad in a handkerchief and complete pandemonium would ensue?  That doesn’t happen anymore…

Considering the myriad of missteps she’s had in her career, I’m surprised that marrying Marc Anthony and living a sedate life in Long Island, is what’s finally killing her "it" factor.  It also doesn’t help that her latest single, “Hold It, Don’t Drop It” is super snooze worthy, or that her Spanish language album, Como Ama Una Mujer, charted less than a Menudo reunion. She’s not even reliable for buzz worthy catchphrases recently, a la "Love Don’t Cost A Thing."

So R.C. re-counts all the things that should have killed her career, but didn’t.

  • Saying "Nigga" on Wax: Her 2001 single, “I’m Real,” was notorious since J.Lo rapped the word “nigga” to describe the haters in her life.  Strangely the entire wrath for using the word was aimed at the song’s writer, Ja Rule, and not J.Lo.
  • The Payola Scandel:  J.Lo’s name was bandied about along with Jessica Simpson among others, as the artist that most benefited from Tommy Mottola’s infamous payola scandal (paying radio outlets to play records).  What’s most interesting is that her albums haven’t had the behemoth chart effect since this scandal became public knowledge.
  • Jail With Diddy: That infamous shoot out at Club New York ended their relationship and they both flirted with jail time, until idiot rapper Shyne took all the heat.  Two husbands, and five albums later, J.Lo’s career is teetering, meanwhile Shyne’s still on vacation.
  • Being Gigli: After this abysmal film crapped at the box office, J.Lo bounced back bigger and better, this year alone she’s working on three movies.  Meanwhile her contemporary Janet Jackson is starring in Tyler Perry films.

If she survived those things, can she comeback one more time?

The video is wickety, wack wack.

I can’t believe that whomever was in the studio listening to this song said to J.Lo, “Yo chica, this song is the bomb.”

This song is wretched and fake as hell.

I hope she has better songs than this on her album — Brave.

Yes, it was brave of you J.Lo to release this song as your first single.

    Bravo!
