Check out LL Cool J still holding it down, on the cover of Men’s Fitness Magazine after 75 years in the game.

This is the first time in four years that a black person who wasn’t an athlete (Tiger Woods, Reggie Bush) has graced the cover of this magazine. Back when I was toiling in the magazine world, Men’s Fitness was suppose to feature Janet Jackson on the cover, but scrapped the entire feature when an unknown white models’ cover tested better than Ms. Jacksons’. Later, I queried the editor on the Janet switch when I was informed that ‘Black people don’t sell magazines.’

So, imagine my surprise when years later not only is LL on the cover but the latest EIC for MF also happens to be a black man. Some things do change.
