The first time I ran across the stunning Kerry Washington was during her Mr. & Mrs. Smith days. I’d met her through a friend of a friend, and was profiling her for a feature in Gotham Magazine.
I was especially excited about hanging with young Kerry because “In My Mind” she was associated with one of my favorite shows, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, as Kendra – the Jamaican slayer. During the course of our really interesting conversation, Kerry and I really connected – that is until I made the ultimate mistake and asked her about that damn Buffy.

“I was never on Buffy,” she slowly stammered, giving me the side eye.
“Yes you were Kerry, didn’t you play the Jamaican slayer in season two,” I retorted, thinking maybe she was trying to hide from her past.
“No, it wasn’t me,” she shot back rather quickly.
“That’s odd, I could have sworn it was you, I think I even IMDB’d it?” this time I’m giving her the side eye.
“No, I think you got me confused with the other black girl that was in Save The Last Dance, because I wasn’t on Buffy.” she states rather matter-of-factly, referring to actress Bianca Lawson but never by name.
Later, after picking up my face off the floor, I did a little research and learned two things that day. Kerry Washington is always right, and I should start doing better research.
Get into her heroin chic gallery for Giant Magazine, you see the red on those shoes right?
