If the Brothers Grimm opened a brothel in Storyland’s red light district, its fabled staff would likely resemble the work of Dina Goldstein’s “Fallen Princesses.”
Goldstein, whose eye for the absurd is exposed in both staged and impromptu shots, turns happily-ever-after on its head in the princess series, which melds fantasy figures with real-life issues of motherhood, cancer and obesity. What results is a hyper-real depiction of fable as interpreted through a contemporary lens.

A beautifully articulated example of why it hurts to grow up.
