“A lot of people ask me “How do you make the transition from video girl to actress?” It’s a little frustrating because I was acting before I did videos. But if somebody knows me as a video vixen, I’m not mad at that at all.”
- Megan Good via Complex Magazine
The other day I was sifting through the myriads of HBO channels that’s offered from my cable provider, and got stuck on a screening of the 90’s pathos film Eve’s Bayou. It had been a while sense I screened the classic, so long that I’d forgotten about Megan Good’s appearance as Eve’s older sister, Cisely - the crazy one. For some strange reason while watching this movie, I came to a revelation that I’d never had about Mz. Good before - she can really act.
Honestly, I thought she’d given up on acting… It had to run across her mind while memorizing the dialog for ‘Beautifull,’ her character in that B2K movie Roll.Bounce You Got Served, or the day they called her for that debacleThe Cookout. So I don’t really blame her for taking an out, and doing the video chick thing for a minute.
Just as cable brought her back into my frame, along comes The Love Guru, a Mike Myers film where she plays the wifey to Weeds write off Romany Malco. Which is great for her, because I don’t think America saw her in Waist Deep.
It makes me wonder why has it taken her so long to finally pop as an actress? She definitely has the face and body of a major movie star, the photos above prove that. Is the material she’s given sub par or has her acting ability devolved?
I doubt I’ll see The Love Guru in theaters, but maybe… one lazy Saturday afternoon, I’ll catch it in my cable rotation, and once again Megan will surprise me - and do something good.

WHAT NOW?
